Opening of “Azerkhalcha” Open Joint-stock Company’s Gobustan branch takes place
07.05.2019President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the opening of the Gobustan branch of “Azerkhalcha” Open Joint-stock Company, May 7th.
President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva viewed unique carpet examples related to the Azerbaijani carpet-making school of the 19th and early 20th centuries.
According to the information given, total area of the Gobustan branch of “Azerkhalcha” OJSC is about 1300 square metres. In accordance with a resolution signed by the Head of the State in 2018, 2 million Manats were allocated for the construction and provision of the Gobustan carpet-making workshop. Construction works on the building, located in the centre of Gobustan, were carried out with high workmanship. Employment of 150 carpet weavers and 14 administrative and maintenance workers are expected here.
It was mentioned that the building consists of a carpet weaving workshop, an artist’s room, a storehouse, a canteen, a physician’s room, a carpet-sale hall, a conference room, and other sections. Azerbaijani carpets will be woven on 43 looms of different sizes in the workshop.
Exhibition and sales of carpets and carpet products made at “Azerkhalcha” OJSC will be carried out in the carpet-sales hall.
After becoming familiarized with the establishment, President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva met with carpet weavers.

Then President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva became familiarized with the activities of the procurement station of “Azerkhalcha” Open Joint-stock Company’s Gobustan regional wool and dye plants.
With total area of 1770 square metres, the station consists of production and administrative sections.
It was informed that 1500 tons of wool would be received yearly in the regional procurement stations. 300 tons of wool are expected to be received to each procurement station.
According to the information given, the territory of Gobustan is rich in dye plants. By collecting and delivering these plants to procurement stations, people would earn additional income. Both wool and dye plants will be received throughout year.
25 people have been provided with permanent jobs at the Gobustan regional wool and dye plants procurement station.
