First Vice-president Mehriban Aliyeva meets French Minister of Economy and Finance Bruno Le Maire

On July 29, First Vice-president of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva met with French Minister of Economy and Finance Bruno Le Maire.

Mehriban Aliyeva mentioned her meeting with French Minister of Economy and Finance Bruno Le Maire in March this year while on the visit to Paris, and the discussions they had held, expressing confidence that the minister’s visit to Azerbaijan would be successful. Underscoring that the relations between Azerbaijan and France based on friendship and mutual interests, she stated that the political ties were on a high level. Mentioning that economic ties have their special place in the development of the relations between the countries, Mehriban Aliyeva said the positive dynamics recently observed in this area would contribute to the expansion of the relations between the two countries further, bringing to attention the importance of using the existing potential in full.

Mehriban Aliyeva stated that large-scale reforms have been performed recently in the economic field, and that the primary objective was to branch out the economy, touching upon the necessity of increasing the role of the private sector, and said that the practice of France in this field aroused interest.

Saying that this was his first visit to Azerbaijan, the French minister said Azerbaijan had a special position in the region. Bruno Le Maire too stated that there was a great potential for the countries’ cooperation, underscoring the necessity of expanding and developing the relations between Azerbaijani and French companies further.

Exchange of opinions took place during the meeting on the projects being implemented between the two countries in the non-oil sector, business ties between French companies and primate entities of Azerbaijan, and on other issues.
