To the participants of the Azerbaijani Students’ 2nd Congress

Dear participants of the Congress!

Dear students!

I would like to welcome the participants of the 2nd Congress of Azerbaijani Students from the bottom of my heart, convey my best wishes to all the students of our country in your person, and wish success to the activities of the Congress.

The fact that your today’s high assembly coincides with the “Year of the Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan” is of significance. Foundation of teaching in the mother tongue and establishment of the first university in our country, and sending Azerbaijani students to foreign countries for education was laid at the time of the Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan, and this tradition was continued by our people’s national leader Heydar Aliyev. Following the initiative of the National Leader, Azerbaijani youth studied at famous universities of the former Soviet Union and, returning to the country, they worked resolvedly in various areas of the public life, for the Homeland’s progress.

Significant steps have been made in independent Azerbaijan towards building the national education system, and a series of state programmes adopted for the advancement of the youth and education. I am hopeful, these programmes will be implemented successfully, and our youth will make their contribution to our country’s progress as highly qualified specialists, having mastered the latest knowledge and technologies, by their worth-of-esteem activities in the public and political, economic and cultural life.

Dear students!

You are living in a nice and flourishing country. We are all rejoicing over your achievements. Your formation as a knowledgeable and patriotic youth with deep morality strengthens our belief in future, filling our hearts with the feeling of pride.

Azerbaijan’s future depends on your level of knowledge, and your ability to master contemporary innovative technologies. I believe you would worthily justify the confidence of the state, and the people.

 With deep respect and esteem,

Mehriban Aliyeva

First Vice-president of the Republic of Azerbaijan

Baku City, 20 December 2018.
