Meeting with a delegation from China

First Vice-president of the Republic of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva met a delegation led by Chairperson of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries Li Xiaolin, August 31.

Expressing confidence that the guest’s visit to Azerbaijan would be successful, Mehriban Aliyeva thanked for the activities of Li Xiaolin towards strengthening the relations between our countries in the capacity of the chairperson of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. She emphasized that the relations between China and Azerbaijan have been built on the grounds of friendship and partnership, and mutual respect, noting that our countries have been having successful cooperation in various spheres, including in the framework of international organizations, bringing to attention that the political ties are on the highest level. Underscoring the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s successful cooperation with the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Mehriban Aliyeva noted that a Memorandum on Cooperation was signed last year between the two entities, and works have already started in this direction.

Saying “Children from Azerbaijan too visited the summer camp arranged in China this year, and days of Azerbaijani culture, including Azerbaijani exhibitions were organized in China”, - Mehriban Aliyeva expressed confidence that there was great potential for future cooperation. She said China had one of the largest economies of the world, and there was good possibilities for joint activities in this sphere. Underscoring the extensive potential in the sphere of transportation, Mehriban Aliyeva said that Azerbaijan has already become a big hub, and that by the inauguration of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, the shortest road to Asia was commissioned into operation. She emphasized that both Azerbaijan and China have historically been situated on the Great Silk Way, which creates good possibilities for cooperation. Mehriban Aliyeva recalled Azerbaijan’s filing an application to become a member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization as an observant state, successful organization of the days of Azerbaijani culture at the organization’s headquarters, thanking for the support provided to our country and for the high-level attitude. She noted the friendship bridge built between Azerbaijan and China, expressing confidence that the visit by Li Xiaolin would make significant contribution to building new partnership relations.

Expressing a feeling of proud of the meeting with Mehriban Aliyeva, Li Xiaolin underscored the significance of this meeting in terms of discussing future cooperation. Noting that this was her first visit to Azerbaijan, the guest said our capital made a deep impression on her, expressing her satisfaction with familiarisation with the Heydar Aliyev Centre and the exhibitions arranged there.

At the end of the meeting, Mehriban Aliyeva presented keepsakes to the guests.
