President Ilham Aliyev and family members watch the finals of the judo competitions in the framework of the Islamiada

On May 13, judo competitions of the “Baku-2017” 4^th İslamic Solidarity Games started at the Heydar Aliyev Sports Palace. Azerbaijani sportsmen won 6 gold and 7 silver medals at these competitions.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, President of the National Olympic Committee Ilham Aliyev, First Lady, Chairperson of the 4^th Islamic Solidarity Games’ Organizing Committee Mehriban Aliyeva, family members and President of the International Judo Federation Marius Vizer watched the finals of the judo competitions.

On the first day of the judo competitions, in individual fights, sportsmen, in the 60, 66, 73kg weight categories among men, 48, 52, 57 and 63kg weight categories among women, as well as 57 and 70kg weight categories among women para-judoists walked onto the tatami.

First, Erdenebat Bazarragcha, who fought among women in 48kg weight category, won the first gold medal to our country. Her rival in the finals was our other representative Aisha Gourbanly. In a fight taking place in the conditions of interesting sports competition, E.Bazarragcha, winning with the score 1:0, won the title of a champion of the 4^th Islamic Solidarity Games. In this weight category, Wafa Shorfi from Morocco took the third place.

Competing in the 57kg weight category at the competition, our para-judoist Afag Sultanova, having defeated other representative of Azerbaijan Sevda Veliyeva by ippon(clear victory), rose to the highest step of the rostrum.

Representing Azerbaijan at the men’s competition in the 60kg weight category, Orkhan Safarov too justified hopes. Having defeated Bekir Özlün with the score 2:1, our judoist won the gold medal.

In the competition of men in the 66kg weight category, Nijat Shykhalizadeh, having defeated his rival, representative of Algeria Houd Zourdani, took victory over him by ippon and became a champion of the 4^th Islamic Solidarity Games.

Our para-judoist in the 70kg weight category Ramila Kashtayeva, brought another gold medal in judo competitions. She, having defeated our judoist Turana Aghayeva in the finals, won the gold medal.

In the finals of the competition in the 73kg weight category among men, two judoists of Azerbaijan stood face-to-face. Winning Rustam Orujov, Hidayat Heydarov rose to the first step of the rostrum at the 4^th Islamic Solidarity Games.

At the ceremony of rewarding sportsmen-winners, medals were presented to athletes by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and President of the International Judo Federation Marius Vizer.

State anthem of Azerbaijan was played in honour of our sportsmen-champions, and the state flag raised.

On the first day of the judo competitions, our sportsmen took seven silver medals.
