A round table was arranged in the framework of the World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue on the topic "Combatting violent extremism through educating girls", with participation of First Vice-president of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva.

Speaking at the “Round table”, Mehriban Aliyeva said:

- Welcome to Azerbaijan, welcome to our country, our capital. Thank you for your participation in this great and important assembly. A lot of kind words were said today about the significance of the 4th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue. We are very glad this Forum becomes wider each time. Representatives of over 100 countries are participating in the Forum. The topic is very important for the whole world. I am very glad we have held other important meetings in the framework of the Forum. Today, following the initiative of Mrs Irina Bokova, we talked about the issues of education for girls. Of course, development of the education system is a paramount issue for every country’s future. After Azerbaijan regained its state independence, education has become one of the most significant and first priority directions. Today, we can say with the feeling of proud that literacy in our country is close to 100 percent. We have a big experience and history in this area. We, at the same time, study the practices of other leading world countries, and we are ready to work with appropriate international organizations.
