Presentation of the electronic edition “Mehriban Aliyeva. The Activity of Azerbaijan’s First Lady in the Press” takes place

Implementing different projects at the Presidential Library of the Azerbaijani President’s Administrative Office, covering significant areas of the country’s public and political life, has become a tradition.

On June 9, presentation of another project - the electronic edition “Mehriban Aliyeva. The Activity of Azerbaijan’s First Lady in the Press” – took place.

The electronic edition includes materials in the Azerbaijani language, selected from AzerTAG, up to 100 newspapers and magazines the Presidential Library has been a subscriber of, and other mass media, covering the multilateral activity of Mehriban Aliyeva, starting from the time when she embarked on an activity as the head of the Friends of the Azerbaijani Culture Foundation in 1995 to date.

The electronic edition is comprised of six sections – “The Friends of the Azerbaijani Culture Foundation”, “The Gymnastics Federation of Azerbaijan”, “The First Lady of Azerbaijan”, “The Heydar Aliyev Foundation”, “A Goodwill Ambassador” and “A Member of the Parliament”. In order to make the edition’s use easy, materials in each section have been given in a chronological order by years, showing the their source.

On the main page, Mehriban Aliyeva’s brief biography, and the chronology of the awards, orders and medals, honorary titles and rewards she has been awarded, both domestically and also by foreign states and respectable international organizations, are given.

In the first section, materials related to the care shown by Mehriban Aliyeva, as a great guardian of the Azerbaijani culture, towards the art of mugham, promotion of Azerbaijan’s intangible heritage abroad, her initiatives associated with holding a series of international music festivals, support provided to our country’s high-level participation in the Eurovision music contest, and other merits have been collected.

In the second section, full texts of the materials, printed in the mass media, about the care shown by Mehriban Aliyeva, as the president of the Gymnastics Federation of Azerbaijan, towards developing this specific type of sport, her great organizing ability as the chairperson of the Organizing Committee of the 1^st European Games held in Baku, and her intensive works to introduce Azerbaijan as a sports country are given.

Mehriban Aliyeva’s activity has been studied on a high level both in our country, and also by the international community, and appreciated. Relying on benevolence, humanism, loyalty to social justice principles and high cultural values, this multilateral activity depicts the main traits of Mehriban Aliyeva’s portrait as the first lady. All materials related to her activity in the status of a first lady, starting in 2003 – her meetings, interviews, speeches, visits, as well as various articles about her – have been collected in the third section of the electronic edition.

Works carried out by Mehriban Aliyeva as the president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation towards our country’s social, economic and cultural development have been given in the fourth section. Considering the comprehensiveness of the area of activity, materials collected have been given in two sub-sections. In the first sub-section, materials directly related to Mehriban Aliyeva’s activity as the Foundation’s president, and in the second subsection, materials related to the events held with the participation of the Foundation’s vice-president Leyla Aliyeva, as well as other lead employees are given.

In the fifth section, Mehriban Aliyeva’s activity as UNESCO and ISESCO goodwill ambassadors are given separately. Materials and various author’s articles related to the activities of Mehriban Aliyeva - a UNESCO goodwill ambassador in 2004 and a ISESCO goodwill ambassador in 2006 - towards preserving national moral values and cultural heritage, restoration of historical monuments of both country and world importance, construction of new cultural objects, and introducing the Azerbaijani culture to the world community, have been collected here.

Materials printed in mass media, related to the activities of Mehriban Aliyeva, as a member of the Parliament, have been collected in the sixth section. In this section have also been provided materials related to her activities towards broadening Azerbaijan’s cooperation with the parliaments of European countries.
