Visit to Hungary
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva were on a visit to Hungary, 18-19 February 2008.
Within the framework of President Ilham Aliyev’s state visit to Hungary, a special program of visit was prepared for First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva.
High-ranking state and government representatives and other officials of Hungary greeted President Ilham Aliyev and Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva at “Farihegi-2” International Airport of Hungary, February 18.
Acquaintance with historical architectural monuments of Budapest
On February 18, Mehriban Aliyeva acquainted herself with historical architectural monuments of Budapest.
Having first visited the Buda Castle, one of the oldest monuments of Hungary, then Mehriban Aliyeva acquainted herself with Castle museum of the Royal Palace.
Then the First Lady arrived at the Holy Matiash Church, and wrote her heartfelt words in the Honoured Guests Book.
The ceremony of awarding President Ilham Aliyev the title of Emeritus Doctor of Hungary’s Corvinus University
On February 18, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev was awarded the title of Emeritus Doctor of Hungary’s Corvinus University, one of the influential high schools of the country. President Ilham Aliyev and Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva attended the ceremony.
Acquaintance with the Hungarian Parliament
On February 19, Mehriban Aliyeva visited the Hungarian Parliament.
Touring the building accompanied by Mrs Clara Dobrev, the spouse of Hungary’s Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány, Mehriban Aliyeva was given information about the Parliament’s activity and work principles.
Mehriban Aliyeva made herself familiar with deputies’ voting process.
Then a dinner was given in honour of Mehriban Aliyeva on behalf of Mrs Clara Dobrev.
Acquaintance with the new building of Azerbaijan’s Embassy in Budapest
On February 19, President Ilham Aliyev and Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva made themselves familiar with the new building of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Budapest.
The Head of State and his spouse viewed the Embassy’s exhibition hall, and visited national Heydar Aliyev’s bust.
