President Ilham Aliyev and Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva attended the inauguration of the Palace of Marriage

The Palace of Marriage in Baku was put into operation after major repair and reconstruction works, July 5. President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva attended the inauguration.

President Ilham Aliyev cut the ribbon symbolizing the official inauguration.

Minister of Youth and Sport Azad Rahimov informed of the major repair and reconstruction works carried out in the building. It was informed that repair and restoration works in the Palace of Marriage started in 2007 within the actions taken by President Ilham Aliyev towards protection of architectural monuments in Baku, and modernizing the image of the capital. General restoration works and reconstruction of the interior in the building have been carried out based on the design developed by French, Italian and local specialists. Repair and restoration works in the interior have been carried out with special taste and design and, above all, its historical look was maintained.

President Ilham Aliyev and Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva familiarized themselves with the condition of the Palace after the repair and reconstruction.

It should be noted that, with its unique place in the architectural ensemble of Baku, the building of the Palace of Marriage was built by famous Azerbaijani millionaire Murtuza Mukhtarov in the beginning of the 20^th century. The building was constructed by “Gasymov Brothers” company according to the design by architect Josef Ploshco of a Polish descent. It was registered as a historical and architectural monument of state importance by a decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated August 2, 2001.
