Azerbaijan's First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva has been on a visit to Italy, March 5-6, 2013.

The exhibition “Flight to Baku. Modern Art of Azerbaijan” in Rome

The exhibition “Flight to Baku. Modern Art of Azerbaijan” was inaugurated  at Rome’s MAXXI National Modern Art Museum, March 5th, within the framework of a joint project of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the English version of the “Baku” magazine and Azerbaijan’s Embassy in Italy.

Mehriban Aliyeva and Foundation’s Vice-president Leyla Aliyeva attended the ceremony.

First, there was a meeting between Mehriban Aliyeva and Museum’s President Giovanna Melandri. Mehriban Aliyeva acquainted herself with MAXXI National Modern Art Museum.

Then inauguration of the exhibition took place.

A dinner was given on March 5th  in honour of the guests of the exhibition “Flight to Baku”.

The new presentation of the opera “Two Representatives of the Foskari Family”

The new presentation of the opera “Two Representatives of the Foskari Family” by Guiseppe Verdi was demonstrated at the Rome Opera Theatre, March 6.

Mehriban Aliyeva attended the premiere.

Mehriban Aliyeva was greeted by Chairman of Rome Opera Theatre’s Board of Directors, Mayor of the Italian Capital Giovanni Alemanno.

Mehriban Aliyeva met with Director of the Theatre Capello de Martino, President of the Rome Opera Theatre Foundation Daniela Traldi, Minister of Defence of Italy Giampaolo Di Paola, Chairman of the Italian Constitution Court Franco Gallo, Minister on Parliamentary Affairs Dino Piero Giarda and other political and public figures of Italy.

Then a new presentation of the opera “Two Representatives of the Foskari Family” by well-known Guiseppe Verdi, directed by Ricardo Muti, was shown.

After the completion of the premiere, Mehriban Aliyeva met with conductor of London, La-Scala, Philadelphia orchestras and currently of Chicago Symphonic Orchestra Ricardo Muti.

At the end of the day, a dinner was given in honour of Mehriban Aliyeva by Chairman of Rome Opera Theatre’s Board of Directors, Mayor of the Italian Capital Giovanni Alemanno.
