An article is published in “Al-Manara” Magazine about Mehriban Aliyeva’s activities

An article was published about Azerbaijan’s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva in “Al-Manara” Magazine, an influential magazine in the Arab world.

In the article, Mehriban Aliyeva’s being born to a family of intelligentsia is told, and quite comprehensive information is given to readers about Mir Jalal Pashayev, Arif Pashayev and Aida Imanguliyeva.

It was mentioned, in the article, that Mehriban Aliyeva’s being from a family of intelligentsia has had an impact on the formation in her such noble feelings as mercy, benevolence, and love for human, as well as her view of the world, which formed the basis of her interest in art, and information was given about the works Azerbaijan’s first lady has done both domestically and on a global level that shaped the image of a progressive Muslim woman in her person.

It is also brought to attention of the readers that within the framework of Mehriban Aliyeva’s efforts towards developing the national music traditions and promotion thereof abroad, the modern Mugham Centre was constructed with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, that Azerbaijani mugham was given a priority at cultural events held in various country’s following the Foundation’s initiative, and that the Gabala International Music Festival is organized with participation of talented local and international musicians.

As regards the activities of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in proliferation of universal values, peace and tolerance, it is noted, in the article, that this organization, having held numerous events in Azerbaijan on the topic of cooperation and dialogue between different civilizations, founded the Islamic Art section at Louvre Museum, closely participated in the restoration of the Versailles Palace’s park, Louvre Museum Complex, Berlin City Palace and ancient historical buildings in other cities of Europe, including the restoration of ancient manuscripts in Vatican, as well as in the repair of the Philosophers’ Hall in the Capitoline Museum in Rome, has left traces in the idea of global tolerance and in the world culture.

It is also emphasized in the article, looking into the international humanitarian element of Mehriban Aliyeva’s activity, that the Heydar Aliyev Foundation has provided emergency aid to people suffering from natural disasters in Romania, Haiti, Pakistan and other states. Vaccination and blood donation actions, open heart surgeries organized by the Foundation in Pakistan, and donations made to Pakistan’s Eye Institute and Thalassemia Centre are underscored in the article. It is stated that, while the National Gymnastics Federation was headed by her, significant development occurred in this sports type, and the city of Baku hosted reputable international competitions. It is further emphasized that the high-level organization and holding of the first European Games in Azerbaijan in 2015 was associated with the name of the Organizing Committee headed by Mehriban Aliyeva, and, for this exclusive success, she has been entrusted with the mission of chairing the Organizing Committee of the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games, to be held in 2017 in Azerbaijan. Moreover, it is brought to attention that successful holding of the Eurovision Song Contest, the most prestigious song contest of Europe, was secured thanks to Mehriban Aliyeva’s perfect activity.

In conclusion, the author states that for her multilateral and sustainable activities, Mehriban Aliyeva was conferred on Officer Degree of ‘Legion of Honour’ Order of France, “Hilal-e-Pakistan”, the highest state order of Pakistan, the ‘Senior Commander Cross’ Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland, a State Order of Serbia, as well as an award of the World Health Organization’s Executive Committee, UNESCO’s “Golden Mozart” Medal, and “Golden Heart” international award.
