President Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva watched the process of launching the “Azerspace-1” satellite

Azerbaijan’s first telecommunication satellite “Azerspace-1” was successfully launched into the orbit, February 8. President Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva attended the ceremony arranged at “Azercosmos” Open Joint-Stock  Company on this occasion.

The Head of the State inaugurated the new administrative building of “Azercosmos” OJSC.

Having acquainted themselves with the building,  President Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva watched the process of launching the “Azerspace” satellite into the orbit. The first satellite of the Republic of Azerbaijan,“Azerspace-1”, was launched at the Kourou Cosmodrome, Guiana Cosmic Centre, in French Guiana in South America being under French administration, at 01.36 Baku time, using the “Ariane-5” carrier rocket with Azerbaijan’s tricoloured flag on.

33 minutes after being launched from the Cosmodrome, the Azerspace-1 satellite was separated from the rocket’s body. 34 minutes 56 seconds after being launched into the space, Azerbaijan’s first satellite took its position in the orbit.

President Ilham Aliyev congratulated our nation on the successful launch of the first satellite of the Republic of Azerbaijan “Azerspace-1”  into the orbit.
