Meeting with UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva met UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova, November 17. 

At the meeting, long-lasting cooperation between Azerbaijan and UNESCO was emphasized. Participation of the head of our state and the first lady  in the Leaders’ Forum of the 38th Session of UNESCO General Conference was appreciated as a good sign of  cooperation. The significance of the speech by President Ilham Aliyev at this event was underscored.  

Azerbaijan’s role in UNESCO’s activities and its contribution to the organization’s work was highly appreciated during the meeting. Development of multiculturalism in Azerbaijan and contributions made by our country to strengthening of dialogue between cultures were also brought to attention.  Significance of holding key international events in Azerbaijan through UNESCO was noted. 

Confidence was expressed at the meeting with regard to extending cooperation further, and exchange of opinions took place on the perspectives of the cooperation.
