The President was given information about the park. With a view to creating an ecological reserve for wild animals in accordance with the tasks set in the “Strategic Road Map on the development of specialized tourism industry in Azerbaijan”, an area of 480 hectares has been fenced in accordance with international standards within the boundaries of 620-hectare territory in the mountain-forest range called Pirgulu in Shamakhy district. By the time of commission, there were 790 genetically valuable animals in the park, such as red deer, fallow-deer and moufflons. As a result of selection and veterinary actions, the number of these animals is now over 1000.

Based on an agreement reached with the Education Ministry, tours will be arranged to the Safari Park for schoolchildren each weekend starting from September.
