Meeting with chairperson of the French Senate’s France-Caucasus Friendship Group Alain Houpert

First Vice-president of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva met chairperson of the French Senate’s France-Caucasus Friendship Group, Senator Alain Houpert, April 27.

Mehriban Aliyeva, noting Alain Houpert’s visit to our country in the capacity of the chairperson of the French Senate’s France-Caucasus Friendship Group, touched upon the relations between our countries, expressing gratitude for the successful advancement of the relations between Azerbaijan and France in all areas. It was underscored that successful cooperation has been established between our countries in the political, economic and other spheres, bringing to attention that the Azerbaijan-France Interparliamentary relations have played a key role in the strengthening of these relations. It was also stated that a number of events took place recent years in this direction. Mehriban Aliyeva, touching upon the economic relations, underscored the very successful cooperation in the energy sector, talked about the cooperation built in the areas of transport, agriculture, environment etc., emphasizing the successful operation of a number of French companies in Azerbaijan. Touching upon the significance of the humanitarian relations, Mehriban Aliyeva said successful cooperation has been taking place in this sphere, bringing to attention that humanitarian relations bring people together. Mehriban Aliyeva, mentioning that days of Azerbaijani culture were successfully held not only in the French capital, Paris, but also in other cities of the country, arousing great interest, talked about the actions taken in this direction in Azerbaijan. Successful operation of the French lyceum, the Azerbaijan-France University was brought to attention. Saying “A lot of works have been done in this sphere, with more potential still remaining”, - Mehriban Aliyeva expressed a hope the relations between our countries would advance further.

A French senator, chairperson of the French Senate’s France-Caucasus Friendship Group Alain Houpert said he was greatly honoured to have a meeting with Mehriban Aliyeva, noting that he was gratified with the advancement of the relations between France and Azerbaijan. The guest highly appreciated the works carried out by Mehriban Aliyeva for Azerbaijan’s promotion in France, touching upon the significance of continuing the events in this direction. Alain Houpert, expressing content with the recent years’ cooperation between Azerbaijan and France, said these relations would serve the advancement of these relations further. The senator said Azerbaijan was a significant country for the world.
