Visit to Bulgaria

On September 22, 2016, Azerbaijan’s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva was on a visit to Bulgaria.

Opening of “Trapezitsa” Architectural Museum Reserve

On September 22, opening of “Trapezitsa” Architectural Museum Reserve took place in the city of Veliko Tyrnovo, Bulgaria, with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

Mehriban Aliyeva and Vice-president of the Foundation Leyla Aliyeva attended the opening ceremony.

Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, mayor of the city of Veliko Tyrnovo Daniel Panov and other officials of the city welcomed Mehriban Aliyeva and Leyla Aliyeva.

First, opening of a memorial board took place.

Mayor of the city of Veliko Tyrnovo Daniel Panov presented keepsakes to Mehriban Aliyeva, Leyla Aliyeva, and Bulgaria’s prime minister.

Mehriban Aliyeva addressed the ceremony.

The attendees of the ceremony made themselves familiarized with the Cultural Heritage Centre created on the territory of the Reserve.

Then, post stamps dedicated to the conservation and restoration of “Trapezitsa” Architectural Museum Reserve by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, issued in Bulgarian and Azerbaijani languages, were presented.

After the presentation, a ceremony of signing commemorative copies of the post stamps took place.

An honorary citizen of the city of Veliko Tyrnovo and an honorary doctor of the Veliko Tyrnovo University named after Cyril and Methodius

On September 22, a ceremony of presenting the titles of an honorary citizen of the city of Veliko Tyrnovo and an honorary doctor of the Veliko Tyrnovo University named after Cyril and Methodius to Azerbaijan’s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva took place in Bulgaria.

For the services to preserving cultural heritage of the city of Veliko Tyrnovo, Mehriban Aliyeva was presented a diploma of an honorary citizen of the city of Veliko Tyrnovo, and a badge.

Mehriban Aliyeva addressed the ceremony.

Then for the great contribution to preserving and promoting Bulgaria’s cultural heritage, and for active participation in this work, Mehriban Aliyeva was presented a mantle a and diploma of an honorary doctor of the Veliko Tyrnovo University named after Cyril and Methodius.

Mehriban Aliyeva wrote her heartfelt words in the Honorary Guests Book of this influential education establishment.

At the end, they were photographed.

On September 22, Mehriban Aliyeva and Leyla Aliyeva watched a light show arranged in connection with the national holiday of Bulgaria - the Independence Day – in the city of Veliko Tyrnovo. The show created using special light effects ended with fireworks.

On the same day, an official banquet was given in honour of Mehriban Aliyeva on behalf of Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.
