President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attend the inauguration of Hajji Javad Mosque’s new building

On April 12, inauguration of Hajji Javad Mosque’s new building took place in Yasamal district of Baku.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the opening ceremony.

Construction of the new building of Hajji Javad Mosque, following the instruction of the Azerbaijani President, at 1, Abbas Mirza Sharifzadeh Street, Yasamal district, started on July 2, 2017.

The new building of Hajji Javad Mosque covers an area of 1200 square metres. The area of the praying hall is about 400 square metres. The dome of the praying house, built in the national architectural style, is 18 metres, with the minaret reaching 33.7 metres in height. Special decoration elements have been used inside the mosque, with verses from Qur’an written on the edges of the dome. Walls and pillars of the mosque, with verses written on, have been decorated with religious symbols, using rare examples of Azerbaijani painting school, and Eastern ornaments.

The first floor of the mosque, which is as spacious as to accommodate 500 prayers at a time, is meant for men, with the second floor intended for women prayers. The floor has been covered with new “Namazgah” carpet, woven specially for Hajji Javad Mosque. High tech air conditioning system has been installed inside the mosque.

Rooms for imam, lessons, and a library, ablution rooms for men and women, as well as secondary buildings have been constructed on the mosque’s area. A water reservoir and a separate boiler house have been built for the mosque. There is also a parking area here.

The Head of the State met with members of the Hajji Javad religious community.
