Mehriban Aliyeva attended the opening ceremony of the “Foreword” exhibition organized by “YARAT Modern Art Space”

An exhibition entitled “Foreword” organized by “YARAT Modern Art Space” was opened on October 6 in Baku. First Lady of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition.

Distinguished for their content and form, modern works of art were this time presented in a different place. For the time being, the works were exhibited in an unfinished building. On the background of repair and construction, ideas of young artists were presented more vividly. And the idea of holding such an exhibition belongs to “YARAT Modern Art Space”, an organization, which has held the event. This is the first project of this entity and, at the same time, its presentation as a new cultural institution in activity.

The main objective of the organization is to support the modern art of Azerbaijan at a professional level, hold  exhibitions to promote our artists’ creative works both within and outside the country, holding festivals, seminars and master classes and different training and education events.

In addition to traditional types an genres of the modern art, installations, performances and video art were also represented at the exhibition. Works of 27 artists are exhibited here. One of the objective of holding this exhibition was to familiarize the audience with new, young and hopeful talents, along with well-known representatives of the modern art.

As is obvious from the name, the “Foreword” exposition talks of the most pressing and experimental approaches of the art touching upon essential and live problems of our time.

Another objective of the exposition is to attract the public attention to the essential role of the modern art as distinctive art-analytics, i.e. an area discovering and analysing the most pressing tendencies and issues of our time through conceptual artistic models.

Attended by well-known public and political figures, representatives of diplomatic corps accredited in Azerbaijan and representatives of art, the ceremony was opened by People’s Artist Omar Eldarov, the rector of the Academy of Art of the Azerbaijan Republic. He underlined that he hoped the mission undertaken by the “YARAT Modern Art Space” organization headed by Artist Aida Mahmudova will be considered a new step towards promotion of our art.

PhD. Hijran Huseynova, the chairman of the State Committee for Family, Woman and Child Problems, underlined that this exhibition will familiarize people with various directions of the modern art. She told that a new organization established under the leadership of Aida Mahmudova will gather itself young artists, support their creative activity and these youths will be those persons who would promote the Azerbaijani art abroad at a high level.

Academician Arif Pashayev, the rector of the National Aviation Academy, who talked of the  singularity of the exposition, underlined that both creating a work and exhibiting are essential. And “YARAT Modern Art Space” creates new opportunities for creative people.

Head of the “YARAT Modern Art Space” organization, artist Aida Mahmudova made a speech and thanked guests that attended the event. A young artist mentioned that she was very glad both to organize this exhibition and be here as a participant and see the wishes become true.

The modern art has already become an integral part of our society, and today it is more popular in Azerbaijan. People familiarizing themselves with the exhibition felt in a different place. This world of avant-garde will be at the disposal of the residents and guests of the capital. Works presented at the exhibition are pieces of modern art. These works attract attention with their realistic shades, different forms and colours. Fine examples of modern art are the reflection of unusual thinking. Looking so acute, these works   are indeed distinguished for their fascinating beauty and interesting technique of trimming. Rich collection of exposition allows disclosure of peculiarities of the modern art.  

Set up in an extraordinary style, the exhibition may well be named as exclusive. Works developed here in the avant-garde style arouse great interest. The style of approaching the exposition in  a place set up in a non-traditional form also attracts attention.

The art always describes the place of a human in the space.  However, the modern art implements this idea through a new form. The avant-garde is interesting with its new shades, new rhythm, new plastic art and form. Being indeed a bright and unique phenomena, examples of the modern Azerbaijani art are distinguished for their unique nature. Here works open excellent opportunities for aesthetic upbringing, development of artistic taste and different thinking. More non-traditional and sometimes even unexpected technology of expression have been applied to these works.

This exhibition has also confirmed that authors in modern works of art not only look for new images, but also work on creation of new forms of expression. Every artist creating works in this filed uses unique methods of expression to give the fullest information about the theme he chose. Those choosing the modern art style call onlookers with their works to dialogue and discussion. The brightest aspect of the modern art is its uncertainty.

Works having an inexhaustible impression were viewed by guests with great interest.

In general, such exhibitions will assist in creation of necessary professional environment and space for creative work.
