Mehriban Aliyeva is presented the order “For Services Before Astrakhan Region”
22.10.2014Azerbaijan’s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva met Governor of Astrakhan Region of the Russian Federation Alexander Jilkin, October 22.
Mehriban Aliyeva said the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Astrakhan Region are tied with efficient partnership relations. Mentioning a series of large projects implemented by the Foundation in Astrakhan Region, Mehriban Aliyeva cited Secondary School No.11 named after national leader Heydar Aliyev, a kindergarten, the “Friendship” Bridge, a children entertainment park and the monument to Prince Vladimir. The First Lady expressed confidence this partnership will continue, and noted that great attention was paid to extending relations in the sphere of culture and education, in addition to political and economic ties. Mehriban Aliyeva underscored that projects of the Foundation in Astrakhan are implemented under the leadership of the Governor and thanked Alexander Jilkin for this support.
The Governor said directions of the projects being implemented by the Foundation were chosen correctly. He said these projects were welcomed by resident of Astrakhan with great sympathy.
Significance of opening direct flights between Azerbaijan and Astrakhan was touched upon, and wishes of residents of Astrakhan to visit Azerbaijan as a tourist were expressed.
Preparation for the European Games was also discussed during the meeting, possibility of organizing cultural events in Astrakhan through the Heydar Aliyev Foundation was underscored, and matters concerning fishing between Azerbaijan and Astrakhan were discussed. The parties have also discussed the possibility of implementing a project associated with sturgeons in partnership with IDEA Public Association headed by Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva.
At the end of the meeting, Alexander Jilkin presented the order “For Services Before Astrakhan Region” and a souvenir to Mehriban Aliyeva.
