President Ilham Aliyev and family members pay a visit to the Prophet Mosque in Medina

Within his official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev was in the city of Medina, April 7. 

The Head of the State, Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva and family members visited the Prophet Mosque here, and performed namaz. 

At the time of Prophet Mohammad, this mosque was the centre of the Prophet’s whole activity in Medina. In 632, by the Christian Calendar,   when His Excellency Mohammad passed away, he was buried in his home, which is currently included in the Prophet Mosque complex. 

The Mosque has been built using up-to-date technology and in a nice architectural style including  Eastern and Islamic culture, and the territory has been widened.  At the moment, some 650 thousand Muslims can pray here at a time.
