President Ilham Aliyev and Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva attended the opening of a new settlement developed in Takhtakorpu area of Aghjabadi district for 552 IDP families from Lachyn district

On December 24, President Ilham Aliyev and Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva attended the opening of a new settlement in Takhtakorpu area of Aghjabadi district for 552 IDP families from Lachyn district.

The Head of our state and his spouse first visited the monument erected to national leader Heydar Aliyev in the centre of the settlement and put flowers before it.

The Head of our state and his spouse were informed of the basic technical and economic characteristics on the construction of the new settlement.

President Ilham Aliyev and Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva familiarised themselves with the conditions created in the apartment of internally displaced Jannat Aliyev.

The President of Azerbaijan talked with the host at a tea table.

Then President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva viewed products made by IDPs from Lachyn district, watched the process of baking yukha (flat bread) on a saj (an iron disk to bake on) and making butter in nehra. The President of Azerbaijan and his spouse were informed of bee-keeping accessories and samples of bee products, as well as a naturally bred basket bee. 

The Head of our state met with residents of the settlement.

Thereafter the Head of our state and his spouse made themselves familiar with the conditions created at a school for 360 children. They were informed that improvement and greenery planting works have been done at the school yard and a football ground was constructed. Equipment for sport types such as basketball, wrestling and volleyball were installed in the sports hall.

President Ilham Aliyev and Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva watched exemplary performances by sportsmen in the hall.

A computer room and laboratories were supplied with up-to-date education equipment.

President Ilham Aliyev viewed a stand with information about well-known people from Lachyn. It was mentioned that the first military minister of the Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan Khosrov bey Sultanov was born and grew up in Lachyn. In addition to classrooms, there are also study rooms for physics and biology at the school. The library has rich fund. Photo-stands reflecting the care and attention by national leader Heydar Aliyev to education have been created at the school. Here there is also a stand talking about projects implemented by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in connection with education.

It was informed that the kindergarten constructed in the area of the settlement for 50 children will gladden children more. Spacious and light rooms, various play rooms, preschool education nooks will be put at children’s disposal.
An additional administrative building was constructed in the centre of the settlement in order to facilitate residents’ appeal to territorial-management organizations and other social establishments. An out-patient’s clinic was constructed in the settlement and supplied with necessary equipment. A club-communal centre also was constructed here to hold various meetings and events.

The Head of our state expressed his gratitude for the conditions created in the new settlement and gave his instructions and recommendations.
