President Ilham Aliyev and family members watch the match between the national teams of Azerbaijan and Netherlands

A semifinal match took place, September 30, between the national teams of Azerbaijan and Netherlands.

In the first match, which took place in the Gymnastics Arena, the national team of Azerbaijan met the national team of Netherlands.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva and family members watched our national team’s game.

Showing a confident play in the first set, which ran under the conditions of tense sports competition, Azerbaijani volleyball players won it with the score of 25:20. Having ended the second game with a victory (19:25), Netherlands’ national team levelled the score - 1:1. The third set of the match too ended with the victory of the Netherlands’ volleyball players – 19:25. Although our team was falling behind in the fourth set with a big difference in the score, it could win the game with the score of 27:25, having shown high persistence. As the scores levelled (2:2) as a result of the fourth set, the winner of the match was determined in the tiebreak. Netherlands’ national team won the match in the tiebreak.
