President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva meet Russian Federation’s Health Minister Veronica Skvortsova
15.09.2015President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Russian Federation’s Health Minister Veronica Skvortsova, September 15.
Appreciating the opening of the Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University’s Baku Branch as a significant event, the Head of the State expressed confidence that this education establishment too would provide high-level education, emphasizing that this was the second influential Russian higher school to start operating in Azerbaijan.
Mentioning that Azerbaijan’s First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva perfectly studied at the Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, Health Minister of the Russian Federation Veronica Skvortsova said Mehriban Aliyeva graduated from this high school with excellent marks, and that documents proving this are preserved in the university’s museum. The Russian health minister expressed confidence that education at the Baku Branch of the Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University would be on the highest and state-of-the-art level, in theoretical and practical terms.
Touching upon the significance of forming in students the ability to work with patients from the first year, the Russian health minister said choice of a special clinic is now under discussion. Underscoring the highest level of professionalism of the teaching staff, the minister said this matter will always be under control.
President Ilham Aliyev said the idea of establishing a Baku branch of the First Moscow State Medical University was successfully realized in a short span of time. Touching upon the works carried out in healthcare in Azerbaijan, the Head of the State brought to attention that state-of-the art medical establishments, supplied with medical equipment meting the highest standards, have been built in the capital and regions. Underscoring the rapid development of healthcare in the world, President Ilham Aliyev said much attention was paid to providing high-level medical service to population in Azerbaijan. Saying Azerbaijani youth are, each year, sent to various higher schools of the world within the framework of a state programme, the Head of the State emphasized the significance of creating such specialized universities in our country. President Ilham Aliyev expressed a hope the First Moscow State Medical University’s Baku Branch would operate successfully.
At the meeting, development of the bilateral relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation in various directions, including healthcare, was underscored, and exchange of opinions was held with regard to the perspectives of our cooperation in this sphere.
