First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva visited Azerbaijan State Pantomime Theatre

On October 31, Mehriban Aliyeva, First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and her family members visited the Azerbaijan State Pantomime Theatre to familiarize themselves with the current conditions.

Minister of Culture Adil Karimli provided an overview of the theatre to First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva and her family.

Established as a theatre-studio in 1994, the Azerbaijan State Pantomime Theatre is one of the country’s prominent theatre collectives. It operated under the auspices of the Theatre of Young Spectators for six years before being granted state status on March 6, 2000. Since 2005, the Azerbaijan State Pantomime Theatre has been located in the building of the former "Shafaq" cinema.

Over the past thirty years, numerous works by various authors have been staged at the Pantomime Theatre. One of the main advantages of this genre is its lack of a language barrier. During this time, the theatre troupe has successfully represented Azerbaijani culture in Germany, Austria, Bulgaria, Switzerland, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Morocco, Russia, and other countries.

Today, the Pantomime Theatre is one of the most visited cultural institutions, having garnered great affection from audiences.

The building currently housing the Azerbaijan State Pantomime Theatre was constructed in 1900 and is recognized as a local architectural monument.

The First Vice-President was also informed about the necessary renovation works planned for the building.
