President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attend the ceremony dedicated to May 9th - the Day of Victory - in Baku

A solemn ceremony took place in Baku on the occasion of the 74^th anniversary of the Victory over fascism in the World War 2, May 9^th.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the ceremony.

President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev laid a wreath before the monument erected to twofold Hero of the Soviet Union, tank forces major-general Hazi Aslanov, commemorating respectfully the brave commander who had demonstrated matchless heroism during the World War 2.

President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva were photographed with veterans of the Great Patriotic War.

A guard of honour walked under the military march before President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva met with family members of Mammad Mammadov, a participant of the World War 2, partisan, one of the eminent representatives of the Dutch Resistance Movement, Holland’s Azerbaijani National Hero, and mayor of Oistervijk city Hans Janssen.

Then, the President and the First Lady met with family members and relatives of twofold Hero of the Soviet Union Hazi Aslanov, and congratulated them on the Day of Victory.

Prime Minister Novruz Mammadov, chairperson of the National Assembly Ogtay Asadov, head of the Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev, and other officials attended the ceremony.
