President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva are on a visit to Aghdam district

On November 5, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva came on a visit to Aghdam district.

President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva paid a visit to the monument erected to national leader Heydar Aliyev in the centre of Guzanly settlement, Aghdam district, and put flowers before it.

The Head of the State and the First Lady were given information about the works carried out in the district.

On November 5, President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the inauguration of the Aghdam Mugham Centre constructed following the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s initiative.

According to the information given, construction of the Aghdam Mugham Centre started in October 2016, with the construction works being completed in September this year. Area of the Mugham Centre is 7782 square metres, with the construction area of 1800 square metres. The two-storied building has been constructed to high taste. Makeup, waiting, technical, administrative, secondary and other types of rooms have been created here. A workshop to repair music instruments will also function in the centre. The concert hall of this centre is distinguished by its modernity. The 328-seat concert hall has been provided with all possibilities to hold various cultural events, including mugham evenings. All possibilities have been ensured in the classrooms of the centre to master secrets of mugham.

The Aghdam Mugham Centre will function as a concert establishment.

The area where the Aghdam Mugham Centre is located has been renovated, a recreation park created in 0.6 hectare-area, strips of greenery laid out, rose shrubs planted, and an illumination system installed.

After becoming familiarized with the Mugham Centre, President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva met with representatives of the district community and masters of art from Aghdam district.

The Head of the State addressed the meeting.

Addressing the meeting, Mehriban Aliyeva said:

- Dear friends, first of all, I want to sincerely thank you for the words you have told about my activity. Of course, a lot can be talked about the art of mugham. Mugham is a rare art type, being one of the greatest treasures of Azerbaijan. Today, we talked about the actions taken towards advancing the art of mugham. You certainly remember that first, we got together at the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and had discussions over these programmes and our future plans, then started to implement them. I want to sincerely thank each of you, as all these achievements were made possible thanks to our joint activities. We had indeed been working as a single team, discussing every new idea, thinking how to hold these contests, and what should be the next step. All these were possible thanks to only your support and participation. I want to thank you for this. Thank you very much.

On November 5, President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the opening of the Aghdam branch of “Azerkhalcha” Open Joint-stock Company.

The Head of the State and the First Lady viewed rare carpet examples woven in various districts of Garabagh in the 19th and early in the 20th centuries.

Total area of the branch’s building is 1250 square metres. Construction works in the building, located at the Heydar Aliyev Avenue in Guzanly settlement of Aghdam district, have been performed to high standards. 150 textile workers and 14 administrative and economic workers are expected to be employed here. 90 people have been admitted to work on the first stage.

The building accommodates a textile workshop, an artist’s room, a storehouse, a canteen, a physician’s room, a carpet sales hall, and other sections. Azerbaijani carpets will be woven on 43 looms in the workshop.

The Head of the State and the First Lady met with women-carpet weavers.

Then, Mehriban Aliyeva cut the first carpet woven at the establishment.

President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, in the framework of their visit to Aghdam district, became familiarized with the cotton field belonging to farmer Asmar Huseynova in Hindarkh settlement of Aghjabedi district.

The Head of the State talked with cotton growers.

The Head of the State gave relevant instruction with regard to timely and loss-free collection of the harvest.

On November 5, President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the inauguration of the Horse-breeding Complex of the Garabagh Horse-breeding Farm under the Agriculture Ministry’s Stock-raising Research Institute.

The Garabagh Horse-breeding Complex has been constructed in an area of 35.5 hectares. Greenery has been laid out on the vast surrounding territory, and trees and decorative shrubs planted. The complex consists of a security building, a disinfection pool, an administrative building, a birth giving section, stables for stallions, mares and young horses, a sheltered riding-hall, walking area, a garret, an examination room, a quarantine building, a storehouse, an open riding-hall, a riding strip, a training facility, a fertilizer storehouse, and secondary facilities. The highest conditions have been created in the administrative building for the employees’ activities.

President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva became familiarized with the conditions created in the sheltered riding-hall.

An exhibition has also been arranged here in connection with the history of Garabagh horses.

President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva watched, in the sheltered riding-hall, Azerbaijan’s ancient horseback game “Sur-papag”.

The Head of the State and his spouse became familiarized with the conditions created in the stables of the complex.

The President and the First Lady watched also exemplary performances of the “Horsemen” group of the State Border Service’s Horse-breeding Centre.
