A closing ceremony of the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games takes place

On May 22, the closing ceremony of the “Baku-2017” 4th Islamic Solidarity Games took place at the Baku Olympic Stadium.

Among the countries participating in “Baku-2017”, Azerbaijan was the first, with 75 gold medals. Azerbaijan’s state anthem was played 75 times in sports arenas, with the state flag been raised 162 times.

Onlookers warmly greeted President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, First Lady, Chairperson of the “Baku-2017” 4th Islamic Solidarity Games’ Organizing Committee Mehriban Aliyeva and Secretary General of the Islamic Solidarity Sport Federation Faisal Abdulaziz Al-Nasseri.

First Vice-president of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva addressed the closing ceremony.

Then Secretary General of the Islamic Solidarity Sport Federation Faisal Abdulaziz Al-Nasseri took the floor.

A video footage with views of the city of Istanbul, which is going to host the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games in 2021, as well as sports facilities, was shown on the monitors.

Faisal Abdulaziz Al-Nasseri presented the flag to Deputy Minister of Youth and Sport of the Turkish Republic, a representative of the “Istanbul-2021” Islamic Solidarity Games Kamuran Özden.

Turkey’s state anthem – “The Independence March” - was played and the flag of the brotherly country was raised along with the Azerbaijani flag.

The closing ceremony continued with the concert called “Unity”.

The closing ceremony of the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games ended by a grandiose fireworks above the Baku Olympic Stadium.
