Solemn opening ceremony of the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games takes place at the Baku Olympic Stadium

Solemn opening ceremony of the 4^th Islamic Solidarity Games took place, May 12, at the Baku Olympic Stadium.

The ceremony was attended by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, First Lady, Chairperson of the Baku-2017 Islamic Solidarity Games’ Organizing Committee Mehriban Aliyeva, Secretary General of the Islamic Cooperation Organization Yusif Al-Othaimeen and other officials.

Over 3 thousand sportsmen from 54 countries are participating in the Islamic Solidarity Games, hosted by Azerbaijan, with over 1000 team officials and the same number of technical representatives being present.

Athletes will compete for 269 sets of medals in the competitions held on 24 types of sport. Azerbaijan will be represented by 425 athletes in these Games.

First Vice-president of Azerbaijan, Chairperson of the Baku-2017 Islamic Solidarity Games’ Organizing Committee Mehriban Aliyeva and Secretary General of the Islamic Cooperation Organization Yusif Al-Othaimeen were invited onto the scene.

Mehriban Aliyeva addressed the ceremony.

Then Secretary General of the Islamic Cooperation Organization Yusif Al-Othaimeen took the floor.
