13th Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation starts in Istanbul
14.04.2016The 13th Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) started in Istanbul, April 14. Hosted by Turkey, one of the founders of OIC, the Summit is held under the slogan of “Unity and Solidarity for Justice and Peace”.
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the Summit.
Turkish President Rejeb Tayyib Erdogan welcomed Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and other heads of states and governments.
Then the heads of states and governments were photographed.
The Summit started with reading ayahs from the holy Koran.
Chairing the 12th Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Egypt’s foreign minister Sameh Shookri announced that chairmanship of the organization is handed over to Turkey.
Accepting chairmanship of the organization, Turkey’s President Rejeb Tayyib Erdogan, addressing the Summit, wished this event to be successful for the whole Islamic world.
Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Iyad Amin Madani addressed the Summit.
After demonstrating a short film about the processes occurring in Muslim Countries, speeches on behalf of Asian, Arabic and African countries groups were heard.
Speaking on behalf of the Asian group representing Bahrein, Brunei, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Iran, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Palestine, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Jordan, Lebanon, Oman, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Maldives Islands, United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Turkmenistan Syria, Iraq, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev wished every success to the Summit and Turkey during the period of its chairmanship.
Then, Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamin bin Hamad Al Tani spoke on behalf of the Arabic countries group, and President of Gambia Yahiya Jamme talked on behalf of the African countries group.
After that, Saudi Arabian King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud took the floor.
Turkish President Rejeb Tayyib Erdogan thanked the heads of states for the speeches.
