European Hospitality Club opens in “Little Venice Village” in Baku
10.06.2015Opening of the European Hospitality Club took place, June 10, in “Little Venice Village” in the Seaside National Park.
Azerbaijan’s First Lady, Chairperson of the Baku-2015 First European Games Organizing Committee Mehriban Aliyeva attended the opening ceremony.
President of the European Olympic Committee Patrick Hickey greeted Mehriban Aliyeva before the European Hospitality Club.
Mehriban Aliyeva and Patrick Hickey acquainted themselves with the conditions created in the Club.
The European Hospitality Club in “Little Venice Village” has been created according to the traditions of the European Olympic Committee and the Olympic Games. VIP guests having special cards given by the European Olympic Committee can enter the Club.
In the European Hospitality Club, discussions will be held every evening during the first European Games on the results of the competitions, sportsmen’s achievements marked and dinner-parties in honour of the winners arranged. Moreover, any country’s delegation may get together here to watch games of its national team. A business centre will also function in the Club. Azerbaijan’s achievements, history, culture, art and traditions will also be popularized here.
Entertaining programmes will be arranged in the Club for sportsmen and guests. They will be offered dishes from the Azerbaijani and European cuisines.
During the event, Jorge Cristóvão, a 53-year-old cyclist, who cycled from Lisbon to Baku to watch the first European Games, arrived at the Natıonal Park. Mehriban Aliyeva presented tickets to the cyclist to attend the opening ceremony with the family members. And Jorge Cristóvão, in turn, handed over the letter addressed by the Portuguese National Olympic Committee to Mehriban Aliyeva.
Then Mehriban Aliyeva met members of the Portuguese team that will participate in the Games.
