President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attend the ceremony held in Baku on the occasion of 9 May – the Victory Day

A ceremony took place, May 9, in Baku, on the occasion of the 71^st anniversary of the Victory over fascism in the Wold War 2^nd.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva attended the ceremony.

The Head of the State and his spouse were greeted by retired major-general Dadash Rzayev, the chairman of the Organization of Veterans of War, Labour and Armed Forces of the Republic.

Meeting veterans of war, President Ilham Aliyev congratulated them on the Day of Victory, and conveyed his best wishes to them.

The Head of the State was presented souvenirs.

The Azerbaijani President met with family members of twice hero of the Soviet Union Hazi Aslanov, and congratulated them on the Victory Day.

Putting a wreath before the monument to twice hero of the Soviet Union, tank forces major-general Hazi Aslanov, President Ilham Aliyev remembered with deep esteem the brave commander, our people’s courageous sons and daughters, and millions of people who have had their share in the securing of the historical Victory.

The Head of the State was photographed together with veterans of the World War 2^nd.

The ceremony was attended by prime-minister Arthur Rasizadeh, chairperson of the National Assembly Ogtay Asadov, head of the Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev, and other officials.

	Great philanthropist The father of Hajji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev was a shoe-maker. By this profession, he earned a living for his family. By the time Zeynalabdin was 10, he asked his father to find him a job.
	Gobustan Gobustan is located near Baku city. It is over 15 thousand years old. In pictures drawn on Gobustan rocks, the life and thoughts of our ancestors are depicted.
