A session took place, April 14, on the topic “A leading role of first ladies in combatting cancer” within the framework of the 13th Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Azerbaijan’s First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva was greeted by Turkey’s First Lady Emine Erdogan.
The session started with reading of an ayah from the holy Koran.
Turkey’s first lady opened the session. Noting the possibility of preventing and treating cancer, Emine Erdogan put forward a proposal to create a data bank as a first measure to be taken in this sphere.
Mehriban Aliyeva addressed the session.
At the session, the declaration “A leading role of first ladies in combatting cancer” was signed by spouses of heads of OIC member states.
