Azerbaijan’s First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, family members and relatives paid a visit to the grave of eminent orientalist-scholar Aida Imanguliyeva to pay a tribute to her memory, on the occasion of her birthday, October 10.
Flowers were laid before the grave of the scholar, who has had matchless services in the development of the oriental studies.
One of the most serious researchers of the modern Arab literature, Aida Imanguliyeva’s name has entered the history as the first Muslim woman-orientalist and Arabist, a researcher of Arabic immigrant literature, and the creator of Arabic literary criticism school in Azerbaijan. Having for long years worked as the director of the Oriental Studies Institute under the Academy of Sciences, Aida khanum had been known as one of the valuable specialists in modern Arabic literature in the former Soviet Union, due to her talent and diligence. Aida Imanguliyeva has left a rich literary heritage after her, and considerably enriched the world’s Arabic studies by her fundamental researches. Professor Aida Imanguliyeva was among the scholars with rare scientific talent, organizational skills, and pedagogical activity.
