Azerbaijan’s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva was on a visit to France, 8-13 July 2014.

An Evening of Azerbaijani Jazz in  Cannes

On July 8, Days of Azerbaijan started in the city of Cannes, France.

Held with the organizational support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Days of Azerbaijan started with a concert programme entitled “Azerbaijani Jazz”.

Mehriban Aliyeva attended the Evening of Azerbaijani Jazz.

Compositions reflecting the history of the Azerbaijani Jazz and its contemporary improvisations were performed. Guests participating in the evening were presented books prepared by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and reflecting Azerbaijan’s history, national and modern music traditions.

Meeting with mayor of Cannes David Lisnard

On July 9, Mehriban Aliyeva met with mayor of Cannes David Lisnard.

Discussions were held during the meeting on projects to be implemented jointly. At the end, exchange of souvenirs took place.

Presentation of “Baku – European Games - 2015” in Cannes

On July 9, presentation of “Baku – European Games – 2015” took place. Chairperson of the European Games Organizing Committee Mehriban Aliyeva attended the ceremony in the city of Cannes.

The host of the event informed the visitors of Azerbaijan, its history and culture, and emphasized that in a year’s time Azerbaijan, a country with rich cultural treasures, will host the first European Games.

Video presentation devoted to “Baku – European Games - 2015” took place at the ceremony.

Then a dinner party devoted to “Baku – European Games - 2015” was arranged. Azerbaijani masters of art performed at the ceremony with a concert program.

Then fireworks show took place under the sounds of Azerbaijani composers’ music in the famous Croisette Boulevard of Cannes city.

Inauguration of the exhibition “Azerbaijan: A Land of Traditions and Future”

On July 10, inauguration of the exhibition “Azerbaijan: A Land of Traditions and Future” took place in the city of Cannes.

Mehriban Aliyeva addressed the ceremony.

After the address by member of the French National Assembly, chairperson of the Friends of Azerbaijan Association Jean-Francois Monselle, acquaintance with the exhibition took place.

The objective of organizing the exhibition “Azerbaijan: A Land of Traditions and Future”, which united a few exhibitions, was to popularize Azerbaijan’s old and rich history and culture.  

At the end, a concert by the Gara Garayev State Symphonic Orchestra, conducted by People’s Artist Teymur Goychayev, started at the Festivals Palace of Cannes.

March devoted to “Baku – European Games - 2015” in Cannes

On July 11, a march devoted to the first European Games to be held in Baku took place in the city of Cannes.

Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva too participated in a march at the Croisette Boulevard.

At the end of the march, a ceremony of rewarding the winners took place.

Concert consisting of Jazz music within the Days of Azerbaijani Culture in Cannes

On July 11, a concert by young jazzman Isfar Sarabski took place within the framework of the Days of Azerbaijani Culture being held in the city of Cannes.

Mehriban Aliyeva attended the concert held at the Festivals Palace of Cannes.

Fashion show devoted to national dresses of Azerbaijan in Cannes

On July 12, a fashion show called “From Traditions to Future Azerbaijan Glamour” by world-renowned fashion designer Renato Balestra took place in the French city of Cannes, within the framework of the Days of Azerbaijani Culture.

Mehriban Aliyeva attended the ceremony.

Presentation of the project started with demonstration of a documentary reflecting its philosophy and history of creation.

Then a collection made by Renato Balestra based on Azerbaijani national dresses was presented.

Objective of the project was to eternalize Azerbaijan’s national traditions and values, support national ornaments’ integration into modern fashion, at the same time, create unity between the Eastern and Western cultures.

Within the framework of the Days of Azerbaijani Culture in Cannes was also presented Azerbaijan’s national cuisine.

Meeting with former mayor of Cannes Bernard Brochand

On July 13, Mehriban Aliyeva met former mayor of Cannes, deputy of the French National Assembly Bernard Brochand.

At the meeting, exchange of opinions was held on the perspectives of cooperation.
