Mehriban Aliyeva, Azerbaijan`s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, has been awarded the Officer Class of the National Order of Legion of Honor by the order of the President of the Republic of France.
President of France Nicolas Sarkozy has sent a letter to Azerbaijan`s First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva on the occasion.
The letter says:
Dear Madame,
With great pleasure, I have issued the order to award You the Officer Class of the National Order of Legion of Honor.
This well-known prize, which I decided to award You from my personnel order fund, is in acknowledgement of Your outstanding service and loyalty to France.
I also take this opportunity to send You my personal congratulations and best wishes You deserve in service and loyalty to France.
Dear Madame, accept, please, the assurances of my highest consideration.

In her reply to French President Nicolas Sarkozy, First Lady of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva expresses gratitude for awarding her the Officer Class of the National Order of Legion of Honor, and estimates this as highest appreciation for her merits in development of bilateral relations. Mrs Aliyeva also states that she would spare no efforts to further encourage the friendly and cooperative relations between Azerbaijan and France.
