President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva were on a visit to Kazakhstan, March 1-2, 2004.
On March 1, President Ilham Aliyev and Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva were greeted, at Astana Airport, by state and government officials of Kazakhstan.
Official welcoming ceremony
On March 1, an official welcoming ceremony of President Ilham Aliyev took place at Kazakhstani President’s residence.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva were greeted, before the Palace, by President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and his daughter Dariga Nazarbayeva.
President Ilham Aliyev and Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva visited the Lev Gumilyov Eurasia National University
On March 1, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva arrived at the Lev Gumilyov Eurasia National University.
At the university, the Head of State acquainted himself with Turkic-language countries’ culture and manuscripts museum. It was informed that samples of Turkic-language nations’ culture, including manuscripts are preserved at the museum.
Then President Ilham Aliyev met with academics and students of the university. Rector Sharsengali Abdimanapov read the decision of the scientific council on awarding President Ilham Aliyev the title of the Emeritus Doctor of the university, and presented the diploma and gown to the President.
Delivering a speech at the meeting, President Ilham Aliyev thanked the leadership of the university and members of the scientific council for such high confidence.
Official reception in honour of President Ilham Aliyev and Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva
On March 1, an official reception was given on behalf of President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev in honour of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva.

Acquaintance with the National Music Academy of Kazakhstan
On March 2, Mehriban Aliyeva visited a number of social and cultural institutions of Kazakhstan.
Having arrived at the National Music Academy of Kazakhstan, Mehriban Aliyeva was greeted by classical music comprised of works by Birjan-sal, Chaykovski and Mozart.
Acquaintance with “ Miras“ International Music School
On March 2, Mehriban Aliyeva visited the “Miras” International Music School, which is a branch of Nursultan Nazarbayev’s Education Fund. Having viewed a library provided with computer technology, primary education classrooms here, Mehriban Aliyeva visited preschool-age children being brought up at “Miras”.
Acquaintance with the National Medical Research Centre
On March 2, Mehriban Aliyeva visited the National Medical Research Centre. The First Lady acquainted herself with state-of-the-art diagnostics equipment, and surgery blocks provided with the latest technology.
A dinner on behalf of daughter of the Kazakhstani President Dariga Nazarbayeva in honour of Mehriban Aliyeva
On March 2, daughter of the Kazakhstani President Dariga Nazarbayeva gave a dinner in honour of Mehriban Aliyeva.
