Mehriban Aliyeva attended the special sitting of the Milli Majlis devoted to the 90th jubilee of Heydar Aliyev
07.05.2013A special sitting of the Milli Majlis devoted to the 90th jubilee of national leader Heydar Aliyev was held on May 7.
Azerbaijan’s First Lady, deputy of the Milli Majlis Mehriban Aliyeva attended the sitting.
The Amnesty act entered following the initiative of Mehriban Aliyeva on the agenda of the Milli Majlis in connection with the 90th jubilee of national leader Heydar Aliyev was brought up for discussion.
Mehriban Aliyeva delivered a speech at the sitting.
Then the Amnesty act was unanimously adopted.
According to the document, the Amnesty act will apply to about 9 thousand persons, over 2 thousand of which will be released from the places of imprisonment.
In accordance with the project, women not posing major threat to general public and sentenced for less grave crimes, those under 18 at the time of committing a crime, 1st and 2nd group disabled prisoners, men that reached 60, those with underaged or 1st or 2nd group disabled children, persons that had participated in battles to defend Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, those forcibly displaced from their lands as a result of the occupation of part of Azerbaijan’s territory and persons related to some other categories will be released from prisons.
