Mehriban Aliyeva acquainted herself with preparation works at the Olympic Village

Azerbaijan’s First Lady, Chairperson of the first European Games’ Organizing Committee Mehriban Aliyeva acquainted herself with preparation works at the “Olympic Village”, May 3.

Located in Baku’s Nizami district, the “Olympic Village” to be used while holding the first European Games covers an area of 382,397 square metres. In addition to being close to the main sport complexes intended for holding the European Games - the Olympic Stadium, Water Sport Types Centre, Gymnastics Complex and the Airport, the Olympic Village is located in an area with easy access from all around the city. Comprised of thirteen residential buildings  and subsidiary buildings, the Complex has 1161 two-, three- and four - room  apartments. Here are also electric substations, boiler rooms, underground water basins, pumping house and car parking for each building. In addition to 3520 rooms in the complex, preparatory works are carried out for duplex houses covering an area of 42 thousand square metres.

A new school building designed for 1100 pupils in the area has been allocated for the Baku European Games Coordination Committee.

Mehriban Aliyeva was told that all necessary conditions have been created here for the Coordination Committee and local and foreign experts expected to work here. There are big and small halls, offices at the building to hold various assemblies. Volleyball and basketball pitches, covered swimming pool are being built at the Complex. Works of mass media representatives have also been taken into account. Preparatory works at the Complex will be completed by the end of 2014.

Mehriban Aliyeva was acquainted with conditions created in apartments intended for sportsmen and delegations expected to come to our country  during the competitions.

Expressing her gratitude for the works done, Mehriban Aliyeva gave necessary recommendations.
