President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attend the inauguration of the Child Art School in Baku after basic repair

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the inauguration of Child Art School No.2 named after Vagif Mustafazadeh in Yasamal District of Baku after basic repair, September 3.

The President and the First Lady became familiar with the conditions created in the building after the basic repair.

According to the information given, the building in which Child Art School No.2 named after Vagif Mustafazadeh is operating was built in 1904. In the past 116 years, the building experienced realities of different eras, serving as a hospital, secondary school, and having been acting as a musical school since 1940. The Heydar Aliyev Foundation repaired the building in 2020 having maintained the architectural style of the building, and the primary appearance of its façade.

At the moment, 385 students are studying at the school on such specialties as piano-forte, violin, khanendeh, guitar, clarinet, saxophone, vocal, tar, kamancheh, garmon, naghara, painting, choreography, theory, and secondary subjects for education. 78 teachers are engaged in their education. All study rooms in the building, where acoustic insulation has been paid special attention to, have been provided with visual aids. 15 individual teaching rooms, theory rooms, a library, a tailor’s room, a conference room, rooms for painting, a choreography hall, a canteen and a voice recording studio are functioning in the two-storied building of the art school. A corner of Vagif Mustafazadeh was created in the school building. This corner, where personal belongings of Vagif Mustafazadeh are, will be used also as a study room.

World-renowned master of jazz Vagif Mustafazadeh studied here on the specialty of piano-forte in the course of the period from 1949 to 1956. A number of renowned Azerbaijani composers and persons of art graduated from this school.
