On December 27, inauguration of a residential complex constructed in Sumgait for refugee and IDP families took place.
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the opening ceremony.
Construction of the complex, located at Koroghlu Avenue of the city, started in March 2017. Constructed in a special architectural style, following modern standards, this complex is intended for 1005 refugee and IDP families. With the complex occupying 4 hectares of area, there are, in total, 12 buildings, including 8 eight-storied and 4 fifteen-storied buildings. A school building, a kindergarten, a ceremonies house, a police station and other necessary infrastructure objects have been constructed on the territory of the complex.

All apartments are finished and provided with kitchen furniture and gas oven. Moreover, a centralized Internet and TV networks have been installed here. Out of 1005 apartments in the complex, 167 are one-room, 536 two-room, and 302 three- and four-room apartments. Two resting corners have been created to make sure residents can spend their free time efficiently, and a child playground built. 67 percent of the complex’s total area has been renovated, and greenery planted. Because this complex is located in the centre of Sumgait, it has been constructed to comply with the city’s architectural style, the facades of the buildings were special attention, and windows of different styles were installed.
While executing the project, a new four-storied building has been constructed as an addition to School No.21 located in Microdistrict No.12 in Sumgait, and the facade and the roof of the existing school building have been completely renewed. There are 21 classrooms in the new building of the school, designed for 540 pupils. All necessary conditions have been created here to ensure high-level education.
A kindergarten for 50 children has been constructed on the territory of the complex. All conditions have been created in the kindergarten for children’s education, rest, and entertainment.
